New Zealand
Trip of a Lifetime
New Zealand is just an incredible place to visit, best summarised by our travelling companions, "It's bite the back of your hand gorgeous".
Possessing that wow factor on every turn that you can rarely capture in a single country.
Straddling the heart of the Pacific, New Zealand unfolds its majesty across two distinct realms: the North and South Islands. Here, a tapestry of climates and landscapes weaves together, offering a kaleidoscope of natural wonders that defy the very essence of a single nation. The islands whisper tales of a relaxed lifestyle, where the pace of life gently mirrors the diverse weather and terrain under its skies.
With a population of merely 4.6 million souls, New Zealand's open roads become pathways to solitude, guiding you through vistas that steal your breath away. Our journey back to this land of enchantment wasn't our first. We had previously ventured as a family unit, a band of explorers with three young adventurers in tow, navigating the North and parts of the South Island in a trusty RV van. That expedition was an odyssey of its own, a dance with chaos and harmony, during a chapter of our lives when such adventures were not just possible but necessary.
Armed with three weeks and a thirst for the unexplored, we embarked on a road trip to conquer the corners of New Zealand that had eluded us since 2009, this time leaving the patter of little feet behind. This blog serves as a chronicle of our journey, a blend of memoir and guide, where we share not only the untouched beauty of the places, we visited but also the rich tapestry of history from our past adventures. Join us as we unfold the map of our latest escapade, detailing the meticulous planning and spirited execution of a voyage back to the heart of Aotearoa.
